The D’AIRA Joint Research Unit has officially launched its operations. Its goal is to bring greater efficiency and safety to the development processes of compounds and formulas within biopharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratories. This collaborative initiative unites Gradiant—a leading technology centre in AI, advanced data analytics, and cybersecurity—Mestrelab Research, a top scientific software provider, and the biotechnology company Hifas da Terra. The project is backed by the Xunta de Galicia through its Joint Research Units initiative and co-funded by European funds via the Galicia Feder 2021-2027 programme.

In this context, D’AIRA was created to address 1 of the sector's main challenges: optimizing the use of scientific data through advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, while simultaneously guaranteeing data quality, traceability, and protection.

A Comprehensive Approach to Optimizing Biopharmaceutical Processes

D’AIRA is structured around a holistic approach that paves the way toward more efficient, connected, and secure laboratories. To achieve this, the unit will focus on 3 major areas:

  • Advanced scientific data management: improving quality, traceability, and interoperability.
  • Application of artificial intelligence: utilizing models that streamline analysis and generate valuable insights from large volumes of information.
  • Cybersecurity: ensuring the protection of sensitive data within highly regulated environments.

This strategic framework aims to transform data into a key asset for research, development, and decision-making across the sector.

Colaboración para acelerar la innovación gallega

The launch of this joint unit strengthens the region's position as a benchmark hub for innovation applied to biotechnology and advanced data utilization. It will help accelerate the transfer of knowledge to the market and enhance the competitiveness of the business ecosystem.

D’AIRA reflects a clear commitment to fostering collaboration between tech companies and the biotechnology sector. By addressing complex challenges—such as advanced data analytics in highly regulated environments—it delivers innovative solutions with a real impact, reinforcing the laboratory ecosystem's capacity to support current and future wellness and scientific advancements.
